Description

We are searching for our first Accounting team member to support our growing organization. This is the first full-time accounting team member on staff, and as a result will be instrumental in building upon our existing accounting and finance systems to successfully support our growth.

As a Staff Accountant based in Chicago supporting a B2B SaaS product organization, you will own and manage the month-end close, reconciliations, A/P, A/R, and financial reporting for our organization. This role reports directly to the VP, Operations and Strategy and will have an opportunity to create, develop, and implement process improvements and strategic projects to improve the function’s day-to-day operations.

What You Will Do

  • Drive accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, and expense reimbursements
  • Reconcile state & local tax filings between systems and prepare manual filings as needed
  • Drive the month-end and year-end close process, including preparation of monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with external audits of financial statements, including preparation of audit schedules and financial statement disclosures
  • Evaluate, streamline, and automate processes and systems, and develop and implement policies and procedures to achieve operational efficiencies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent degrees, CPA preferred
  • Experience in a corporate accounting role, preferably in a software or professional services environment
  • Strong technical GAAP accounting knowledge related to typical SaaS company transactions
  • A self-starter with the ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
