Why Use PROMIS?

Reduces Patient Burden

  • PROMIS measures contain fewer items / questions than conventional PRO measures, thereby decreasing respondent burden.
  • When used as computer adaptive tests, PROMIS measures usually only require 4-6 items for precise measurement of health-related constructs.

Why Use PROMIS?

Not Disease / Anatomic Specific

  • Makes it easy to compare across patients
  • PROMIS measures can be used in the general population and with adults and pediatric populations with a chronic condition(s)

Why Use PROMIS?

Proven to be More Precise

  • PROMIS measures have greater precision than most conventional measures.
  • Greater precision (less error) enhances power in a less costly way than increasing sample size.
